This is one of the online resources for United Lutheran Seminary’s ongoing partnership with Rural Mission and the January Term Service Learning trip to John’s Island. Another online resource is our Facebook Group.
First of all, thank you! We know there are a lot of ways in which you support the ULS community and ULS students, so we are especially thankful for your support of this nearly 20 year partnership between Rural Mission and Philadelphia (and now Gettysburg and PLTS-Berkley) seminarians. All donations are tax deductible and go directly into an account for all participating students. This account provides, most importantly, funds for building materials that students will utilize while doing service work in the Gullah communities of John’s Island. Your donation will also be utilized to pay for student meals, lodging and direction from the Rural Mission staff while on the trip.
Our goal this year is to raise $450 per student attendee. That’s around $7,000 total!
There are multiple ways that students may receive funds for this trip. The form below allows for direct deposit into the mass account. You may also mail in a check, made out to United Lutheran Seminary with the memo line “John’s Island Trip” to 7301 Germantown Ave. Philadelphia, PA 19119. Also, please scroll down to see a few photos from past experiences and a video primer on Gullah culture.
Thank you for your prayerful support!
